RAG Explorer
When you 'chat with a PDF', the AI doesn't read the whole thing every time — a search step finds the few most relevant passages first, and the model answers from only those. Ask the Kape Diem café handbook anything below and watch that pipeline run in the open.

§1 · Store hours
Kape Diem is open Monday to Saturday 7:00am–9:00pm and Sunday 8:00am–6:00pm. Baristas arrive 30 minutes before opening for setup.
§2 · Leave & vacation
After six months, staff earn 5 vacation days and 5 sick days per year. File vacation leave in the staff app at least 2 weeks ahead. Sick days need a message to your shift lead before opening.
§3 · Free drinks & discounts
Every barista gets 2 free drinks per shift. Immediate family members get a 20% discount on drinks and pastries.
§4 · Uniform & appearance
Wear the black Kape Diem shirt and the provided apron. Closed shoes are required at all times — no sandals or sneakers with mesh tops, for hot-liquid safety.
§5 · Lateness policy
Three late arrivals in one month means a written warning. Being over 2 hours late without a message counts as an absence.
§6 · Pay & payslips
Salary is paid every 15th and 30th by bank transfer. Payslips arrive by email the day before. Overtime is paid at 125% of the hourly rate.
§7 · Tips
All tips are pooled in the jar and the app. The pool is split every Sunday night, proportional to hours worked that week.
§8 · Espresso machine care
Backflush the espresso machine at closing every night. Full descaling happens on the first Monday of each month — the maintenance checklist is behind the bar.
§9 · Customer complaints
Use LAST: Listen fully, Apologize sincerely, Solve it, Thank them. You may replace any drink or refund up to ₱200 without asking a manager.
§10 · Emergencies & incidents
For emergencies call the shift lead first, then the owner. Any accident or injury needs an incident report in the staff app within 24 hours.
§11 · Social media
Never post photos of customers without asking. Feel free to post latte art and shop photos — tag the official page so we can reshare.
§12 · Training
New baristas shadow a senior for their first 2 weeks. A latte-art workshop runs every quarter and counts as paid hours.
3 The model answers from ONLY the retrieved sections
This is RAG — retrieval-augmented generation — the pattern behind every “chat with your PDF” product. The retrieval here is simple word matching (real systems use embeddings, which also catch synonyms), but the architecture is identical: search first, then answer only from what was found — which is why RAG answers can cite sources and hallucinate far less.
